Abstract

In the article are being explored categories of predicate affix and personal affix in the Turkish language. In the author’s opinion, the interpretations common in Russian-speaking Turkology do not correspond to current practice and create fundamental difficulties for Russian speaking students in the learning process. The purposes of the study undertaken are: to analyze classical Russian and Turkish grammar books; based on morphemic, semantic and syntactic   methods of analysis, to identify problematic aspects; to explore the latest trends in Turkish linguistics in this topic; to propose an interpretation option for discussion. As a result, it managed to find out that the incompletely correct definition and delimitation of the categories of predicate affix and personal affix by Russian-speaking Turkologists originates in classical Turkish linguistic literature and is obviously associated with the accelerated transformation of the language from Ottoman to literary Turkish. At the moment, among Turkish linguists there are supporters of interpretations that more accurately reflect the current state. In the author’s opinion, it turned out to be possible to clearly differentiate and define the categories of predicate affix and personal affix, as well as describe the logic of their integration into the general concept of Turkish grammar.
